T O P I C R E V I E Wapollo11lem5@aol.comQuestion from the uninformed: The term BLOG and BLOGGER is mentioned all the time and yet I am totally ignorant as to it's meaning. It is tossed around like everyone knows what it is but nobody ever explains. It really makes me feel dumb. Can someone please tell me what it is exactly ? Thanks....DonRobert PearlmanHere's something I posted to an earlier thread about favorite blogs: quote:All blogs are websites, but not all websites are blogs.Blog is short for web log.To put it simply, a blog is a website that has the purpose of recording the thoughts, ponderings, ideas, and/or reactions of its author in a chronological format resembling a diary or journal. Blogs are typically updated using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain their site. They differ from other news websites as not only isn't there an editor, but "train of thought" postings are encouraged. That said, there are blogs (like Alan Boyle's MSNBC Cosmic Log) which use the format to impart information on a particular topic (rather than random thoughts) as a means of conveying stories that do not merit a news article.I use this format for the front page of collectSPACE, though those who track blogs do not consider this site or its front page as such.Hope that helps.RodinaBlogs cover everything from politics to sports to space.
